Audition FAQs

Who can audition? Anyone enrolled at the University of Florida or Santa Fe may audition.

Do I need dance experience? No experience needed for Extreme! We have five different levels catered to all levels of technical or performance ability.

I have never been to an audition before and I am scared about the judges! No need to worry! Our auditions are simply for placement purposes and no matter what you make a level!

What should I wear? What do I bring? We suggest wearing any clothes that you feel comfortable moving around in. Any usual workout clothes will do the trick (ex. leggings, spandex shorts, tank top, t-shirt, sports bra, etc.)! We recommend bringing any form of jazz dance shoe or tennis shoes. If you don't own dance shoes, socks or bare feet would also work. Besides that, just bring some water and a smile!

What will we do? At the start of the audition, everyone will be taught an 8-10 count jazz combination that will be performed for the judges twice. This combo will be used to assess not only technical ability but also performance quality and memory. Everyone will then separate into groups of approx. 8 people to perform the combo as well as individually demonstrate specific dance skills (such as a pirouette, a la secondes turns, leaps, calypsos, etc.).

Who will be judging? Our judging panel is made up of about 5-6 A1 members who have been on Extreme for the most semesters. Each of our judges are fair and discrete with the scores.

What if I can't make the audition? Each semester we always have a makeup audition for those who can't attend the original! If you cannot make either audition, please contact the president at extremedancepresident@gmail.com.
